About PAT

An early childhood parents' education and family support program for families with children under 3 years.  Entry to the program is through the Newborn group.

Newborn classes are held for first time parents with children under 5 months.

Once participating in the program, families move on to baby groups which are held fortnightly. One week is for 4-9 months non-mobile babies and the alternate week is for mobile babies 9-14 months.

There is time to talk to other parents, hear information about child development, make something to play with, and play with your baby. Each week there is written information to take home.

When your baby is walking there are toddler groups on Thursdays and Fridays. Activities suited to your child's age are prepared so you can come along and play with your child. These may give you ideas of how to entertain your toddler at home plus give you a chance to meet with other parents.

Wednesday afternoons from 4 o'clock there is a time for Dads to come and play with their toddler. This is an opportunity for partners to have a well earned break while Dads have fun exploring all the toys with their toddler. There is also the chance to meet other dads and have fun on outdoor equipment.

The Parents as Teachers program will be ceasing operation at the end of November due to a DET restructure.  We look forward to continuing our existing groups until the end of November and the timetables for term 4 are listed on the Baby and Toddler groups pages for participating families.
